Overseas medical insurance

Statutory health insurance covers costs abroad only to a limited extent, and often not at all outside the EU. Transport back to Germany is also not covered. Overseas medical insurance (Auslandskrankenversicherung) closes this gap.

  • RepatriationThis should be included in the policy.
  • Trip durationAnnual policies usually cover trips up to a specified length.
  • Longer staysSeparate policies are available for spending months abroad.
